Dr David Paterson, FACE

David Paterson is Associate Professor in Teacher Education and Program Director; Postgraduate Education at the University of Canberra. He began his career in education as a secondary teacher of English and History and has subsequently worked as a special educator, teaching students with severe and multiple disabilities and as a special education consultant in rural and regional schools. David's PhD research at the University of Alberta involved a study of teacher thinking in inclusive classrooms. He worked for many years at the University of New England (UNE) in Armidale, serving as team leader in special and inclusive education and as Chair of Postgraduate Coursework Programs.

David was President of the ACT New England Regional Group of ACE prior to his move to the ACT late in 2013. He is also an active member of the Australian Association of Special Education (AASE) and editor of the AASE journal Special Education Perspectives.
