Message from the SA President
With the 2014 year ending on a high note for our ACE members in SA, we look forward to a vibrant, engaging program of events and initiatives in 2015. I especially welcome our South Australian Committee members for 2015 and thank them for their energy and passion in reinvigorating our members and helping to extend our community links and engagement. We are particularly looking forward to exploring some of the history of the College and its contributions to education policy and debate over the past 50 years at both the national and state level with our outstanding archivist, Tony Ryan (FACE). This year already planning is well underway for the following initiatives:
- Profiling the first Education on the Square event in March with the address from our 2014 Mary MacKillop Award winner, Meredith Edwards
- Finalising the program for our Young ACE Professionals under the leadership of Jason Loke, who is currently exploring the opportunities and aspirations of this group and developing initiatives that harness their expertise and contributions to emerging trends and issues in education
- Celebrating an ACE Membership Awards Night where we acknowledge five Life Memberships, ten memberships of 25 years or more, and eight memberships of 10 years or more.
Finally, we are exploring, with some school leaders, the role that SA ACE can play in supporting the leadership development of Highly Accomplished and Lead Teachers against the requirements of the AITSL standards. We look forward to welcoming new members and to staying closely connected with our existing members and Fellows in 2015 and beyond.
South Australia has a range of awards to celebrate the achievements of educators in the region.
The ACE SA region holds a range of engaging events for members. These include the monthly Education on the Square information and discussion sessions held in conjunction with Flinders University, awards evenings, SA FACE member evenings, and talks by influential members of the education community.
