Shavorn Paisley at age 17 has been struggling with school attendance since year 7 and 8, after incessant bullying. She says this triggered depression and anxiety that caused her to act out, damaging her relationship with her family. “If it wasn’t for Miss May I wouldn’t be at school, “Miss May’s teaching me how to be a better person”. “She’s my school mum and the other students are my family.” Shavorn is the eldest of 6 siblings and would like to study Childcare and TAFE after completing VCAL.

She’s hoping that her behaviour toward her mum in the worst times of her depression haven’t damaged her relationship with her mum, and hopes to repair it with the new skills she’s leaned in the Diversity class.
