The November ACE Darwin Dinner theme appreciates teachers and teachers’ work through all phases of a teaching career. This month’s dinner theme and speakers invite us to appreciate the diverse ways that teachers at all phases of career contribute to improving the quality of teaching and learning.
Helen is retiring in December 2020 after an illustrious career in the Northern Territory Department of Education. She is a Principal Fellow of the Australian Literacy Educators Association.
Charlie Malady, Year 4 Teacher at Girraween Primary School, NT
Charlie graduated from Charles Darwin University in 2019 with a Bachelor of Primary Education. She works as a Year 4 class teacher at Girraween Primary School. As Charlie notes, “Besides being the first year having my own class, this year has thrown plenty of curve balls; being adaptive, positive and patient have been essential attributes to manage uncertainty and frequently changing guidelines”.
