Leadership and Wellbeing Enhancement: Workshop One – Social and Emotional Learning and Enhancement

Social and Emotional Learning and Enhancement brings together a unique panel of subject matter experts and education practitioners to explore the important role social and emotional learning has for leaders, teachers and students.

Expert Panelist: Anthony Klarica

Anthony has been a Secondary Teacher, who has worked as a Psychologist in a range of education, corporate and sport high performance settings and consulted to a wide variety of individuals with regard to mental health, wellbeing and performance. Anthony is the founder of the Six-Star Wellbeing Survey now sold in collaboration with ACER and already used by approximately 25,000 school staff and students from around Australia. He has particular interest in wellbeing, leadership, teamwork, culture and performance. With over 30 years experience in education, wellbeing, mental health and performance, Anthony is a Registered Psychologist and Director of Elite Performance.

Expert Panelist: Philip Whelan

Philip has had a career in education and worked in leadership roles in government, Catholic and private schools. Harnessing this knowledge and experience he now consults to schools on wellbeing, leadership and social emotional learning programs and their impact on staff and students. With over 30 years experience in the education profession, Philip is the Director of Professional Development for Stride Education, Australia.

Expert Panelist: Katherine Dix

Dr Katherine Dix is a Senior Research Fellow in the Educational Monitoring and Research Division at ACER, where she has worked since 2015. She brings diverse experience in project managing and evaluating national school-based initiatives, with a particular focus on promoting whole-school wellbeing. Katherine has extensive experience in questionnaire design, large-scale survey implementation, program monitoring and real-time reporting, along with expertise in multilevel modelling to investigate evidence of impact in innovative ways. She holds academic status at Flinders University College of Education, South Australia.
